In September 2011 Sonas won two ICSH awards – one for best Homeless Project for Viva House and one for a supported housing project – a collaborative initiative with Hail Housing and Cluid Housing.
Sonas is an established housing provider. Housing management in Sonas is provided along with a domestic violence homeless service. Safety and security is very important on all our complexes. A great deal of work with service users focuses on risk assessment and safety planning throughout all stages of their tenancy and move on into mainstream housing.
Sonas housing has best practice housing management policies. These policies are in place to ensure that we have the best rent structure, maintenance and repair programmes, estate management and as little anti-social behaviour as possible. Sonas maintains an internal housing management performance system (Chics) and takes part in the Irish Council for Social Housing’s Housing Association Performance Management returns.
The housing officer works very closely with support staff to ensure that tenants are supported to maintain their tenancies. Tenancy sustainment and settlement work is built into the specialist domestic violence support services provided by Sonas to its tenants.
Number of units
Sonas Housing Association has a housing stock of 103 units in Dublin, with a further 12 units in management by the Sonas Housing Partnership. The 103 units includes our refuge, Viva House.
