Sonas Housing Association launched Viva House, its women’s refuge in Dublin 15, on Friday, 10th December at 10am in the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Blanchardstown.

RTE Six news covered the event. You can see the piece they did here http://www.rte.ie/news/2010/1210/vivahouse.html#video. The Irish Examiner also covered the event http://www.examiner.ie/ireland/refuge-could-only-take-25-of-cases-139172.html.

Viva House is a much-needed service in the Dublin 15 area for women and children affected by domestic violence who are suffering the most brutal human rights’ abuses in their own homes. It opened its doors in June this year following tireless efforts by many people in the local community. Since it opened it has been inundated with enquiries and presentations.

The aim of the launch was to draw attention to the services of Viva House as well as to raise awareness of the issue and effects of domestic violence. Speakers include: Amanda Middleton, an expert in domestic violence and substance misuse issues who has recently worked with Safe Ireland, and Fingal County Council Mayor Councillor Ken Farrell.
